The Attack of the St Bernard

Greetings:

One of my friends always says, "You don't have to attend every argument you are invited to!" Sometimes the best way to handle an argument or challenging situation is to remove yourself!

As I was walking my two Yorkies, Surrobbie and Buddy, we had a very surprising situation. One of the neighbors was out walking her St. Bernard. I didn't think anything about it until the St. Bernard broke free and started running towards us. My dogs immediately started barking and trying to get out of the way. The St. Bernard immediately started to attack Surrobbie. Buddy went after the St. Bernard. I was busy trying to keep the St. Bernard away from both of the dogs. Once the owner got her St. Bernard under control I noticed that I had Buddy on the end of the lease but all I had on the other lease was an empty collar!

I panicked for a moment and started yelling "Where is my dog?" And then I noticed Surrobbie was up on the hill on the sidewalk just watching what was going on. She had removed herself from the situation.

The truth is that Surrobbie wouldn't have had a chance with the St. Bernard. He is huge and she is 10 pounds. So instead of fighting back she refused to accept the invitation.

Pick your battles. Not every single fight, argument or challenge you are invited to is important enough to give your time to. There will be times when you will want to address the issue, but most times you won't. Save your energy for the most important things to you! For the rest of lives battles you might just want to remove yourself.

Love my Yorkies,

Rachelle
